Clearing Cache and Deleting Cookies

Clearing your cache can significantly improve the speed and performance of your browser. The following procedures provide steps to clear the cache memory for a variety of browsers:

CACHE: A fast storage buffer in the central processing unit of a computer. For example, web pages you request are stored in your computer's cache. This enables your PC to display these pages to you without having to go back through the Internet to retrieve the page.)
Clearing Cache on Microsoft® Internet Explorer 6.0

1. Click Tools, and select Internet Options on the Internet Explorer menu bar.
2. Click the GENERAL tab.
3. Click DELETE FILES

NOTE: Be careful not to select Delete Cookies instead of Delete Files as this will remove all the cookies stored on the computer.

4. Click OK on the Delete Files dialog box.
5. Click OK.

NOTE: If these steps fail to resolve your problem, close all open browser windows and open the Internet Options window from the Windows Control Panel.

Clearing Cache on Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.0

1. Click Tools, and select Internet Options on the Internet Explorer menu bar.
2. Click the GENERAL tab.
3. Click DELETE FILES
4. Click OK on the Delete Files dialog box.
5. Click OK.

NOTE:
If these steps fail to resolve your problem, close all open browser windows and open the Internet Options window from the Windows Control Panel.

Clearing Cache on Microsoft® Internet Explorer 4.0

1. Click View, and select Internet Options on the Internet Explorer menu bar.
2. Click the GENERAL tab.
3. Click Delete Files.
4. Click OK on the Delete Files dialog box.
5. Click OK.

Clearing Cache on Netscape® Communicator / Navigator 4.0

1. Click Edit, and select PREFERENCES on the Netscape menu bar.
2. Click Advanced.
3. Click Cache.
4. Click the Clear Memory Cache button.
5. Click the Clear Disk Cache button.
6. Click OK.

Clearing Cache on Netscape® Communicator / Navigator 6.0

1. Click Edit, and select PREFERENCES on the Netscape menu bar.

4. Click Empty Now.

Clearing Cache on America Online® 5.0 (32 bit)

1. Click MY AOL, and select Preferences on the AOL menu bar.
2. Click the WWW button.
3. Click the General Tab.
4. Click Delete Files.
5. Click OK.

Clearing Cache on America Online® 6.0

1. Click Settings, and select Preferences on the AOL menu bar.
2. Click Internet Properties (WWW).

1. Click Members.
2. Click Preferences.
3. Scroll down to Web.

Deleting Cookies

Internet Explorer 4.x, 5, 5.5 or 6.0

1. Close IE browser.
2. Search your hard drive for a folder named Cookies.
3. Once the Cookie folder is found, open it. (Default location is: C:/Windows/Cookies)
4. There is a list of text files such as: user@sitename, these are the cookie files.
5. Highlight and Delete the unwanted cookies.

Netscape

1. Close the Netscape browser.
2. Search your hard drive for a file called Cookies.txt
The Default path to the cookie.txt file is; C:/Program Files/Netscape/Users/default or your name/cookie.txt.
3. Highlight and Delete the file.

How to View Cookies That Were Accepted

Internet Explorer 4.x, 5, 5.5 or 6.0

1. On the View menu, click Options or Internet Options.
2. On the General tab, click Settings.
3. Click View Files. Cookies can be Deleted from here, too.

Internet Explorer 3.x

1. On the View menu, click Options.
2. On the Advanced tab, click View Files.
